thank you very much.
btw: i don't think your french is rotten or lousy

Une nouvelle question:

i have connected my laptop (without an RS232 interface) to the AZ4150.
i used a usb to 232 cable, but the software could not find the AZ4150.
i wonder if a few settings are involved to get this done, since a straight RS232-RS232 cable is standard.

thanks in advance
fillemon

Which chip is used in your USB/RS232 cable ? If you've got a cable with the "wrong" chip, there are often troubles with this kind of cables.

Best expererience will be made with a FTDI chip and the appropriate drivers.

After installing the drivers and inserting the cable, the device manager will report the new cable and you should recognize the new assigned COM port. This must match with the COM port for your ABUS, otherwise change it.

Good luck !

thanks rudi,

i had to install the drivers first... (a linux boy, that forgot how to go around on windows...) (it was a QinHeng Electronics HL-340 USB-Serial adapter: a super cheap not linux supported device, found the driver online)

then i had to set the port to the com1 port, enter the password "security" and i was in.

a very stupid question: i thought that the software was to program zones and things like that. i cannot find a manual anywhere.. But from what i saw, it doesn't look like much configuring...
so what does one uses this software for ?
thanks

Hi,

you are a lucky boy bcs your cable works now for you !

Most chinese cables w/o FTDI chip make troubles with a lot of applications.

I have no knowlegde about the ABUS system. I'm sure the experts here will help you further on.
